Descriptions of Silica Refractory Bricks
Silica refractory brick is a typical example of acid refractory which is composed of tridymite, cristobalite and a small amount of residual quartz and glass phases. This firebrick is produced by highly pressing and slowly firing at 1350~1430 °C under reducing atmosphere. It is with a silica content of more than 96%. Silica fire bricks are characterized with good resistance to acid slag corrosion, high temperature performance, and the ability to not deform under long-term using at high temperature, which can prolong the service life of 7-8 years.
Features and Applications of Silica Refractory Bricks
- High load softening temperature. Silica bricks can withstand loads at high temperature and not deform for long-term using. Therefore, it is suitable for the vaults and other load-bearing parts of regenerator and sediment chamber of steel-makingopen hearth furnace, glass melting furnaces and coke ovens. - Good thermal shock resistance and high thermal conductivity. It has good stability and air tightness, without deformation and peeling at high temperature. Therefore, it is suitable for the partition wall of combustion chamber and carbonization chamber of the coke oven.

- It is important to note that the volume of the silicon product will suddenly expand at 200-300 °C and 573 °C because of the crystal transformation. Therefore, the kiln should not be heated too fast when the temperature is below 600 °C.
